Spartanburg, SC, remotely
Specialty: Working with singer/actors in the realm of Musical Theatre/CCM, and speakers and singers experiencing either self-perceived or diagnosed vocal issues
Anne Denbow has been practicing yoga since 2011 and discovered YogaVoice in 2018. Classically trained at The New England Conservatory of Music, with further training in NYC, Anne has a varied performance background, ranging from opera and oratorio to musical theatre, cabaret and CCM. After many years of teaching voice both privately and in collegiate settings strictly within the traditional Western paradigm, Anne is delighted to add YogaVoice to her pedagogical wheelhouse. Guiding the speaker or singer in releasing the unencumbered, already embodied voice from within using yoga principles is now her modus operandi! Currently, Anne is Lecturer in Voice at Converse University School of the Arts and The Lawson Academy (pre & post college study), Director of Liturgical Arts at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Spartanburg, SC, and maintains an active private studio. She has previously held full-time vocal/choral faculty positions at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC, and Ashland University in Ohio. As the vocal health writer, Anne co-authored the educational series, “Experiencing Choral Music”, published by McGraw-Hill/Glencoe Corporation. Awards received include the Rowe Fellowship for Graduate Study, First Place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing New England Regional Auditions and Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Great Lakes Regional Auditions. Anne is an active member of NATS, an inactive member of AEA (Actor’s Equity Association), an honorary member of Pi Kappa Lambda, and a past member of ACDA (American Choral Director’s Association).
